    Our In-House Chef Bryan Breland finds inspiration for his cooking in both the expected and unexpected. His love of food and zeal for life come together on the plate as he bridges Classic French training with Southern restaurant experience and the diverse culinary roots he formed growing up as a native of Southern California.   • The Experience

    Here is a snapshot of what to expect when you come spend an evening with us in one of the Coastal Cupboard cooking classes: Our cooking class guests arrive a bit before 6:30 when our dinner classes begin, so immediately our guests have the whole store to themselves. This allows for a relaxing, quiet, and distraction-free environment where guests can sit and dine while interacting in an intimate setting with the chef and other cooking class guests. Throughout the evening the class is served anywhere from 3-5 courses, which are prepared, plated, and served like you were at one of the excellent restaurants these chefs represent. The meal is accompanied by wines, beers, coffee and/or infused waters to compliment the incredible food. Most classes run about 2-3 hours in length, with a brief intermission where the store is open exclusively for the cooking class guests to shop at their leisure. We also offer discount incentives, just in case you need the excuse in justifying another silly gadget that the chef swears you can’t cook without! The ultimate goal for us is to create a fun, educational, unique, and memorable experience. So whether you’re a cook, a foodie, or someone who just wants a great night out with friends or your special someone – please give us a try to provide you with an evening that will last in your recipe box for years.
  • FAQ's

    What will I get to taste during a cooking class? The chef’s will prepare generous tastings of everything that is on the class menu. Keep in mind, our students will rarely go away hungry! You may be served tastings one at a time or all at once at the end of class depending on the chef’s menu. What time should I arrive? Classes will start promptly at the time scheduled, so we recommend arriving at least 15 minutes prior to the start of class. Seating is on a first-come, first-serve basis. If you are coming with a group and would like to sit together, we recommend you arrive 15-30 minutes early. How “hands-on” are the classes? Unless specifically noted in the class description, all classes are observation only. What is the minimum age for participating in a cooking class? There is a minimum age of 14 for our “adult” classes. Adult classes are those that do not specifically note the age range for which the class is designed. Anyone between the ages of 14 and 18 must be accompanied by an adult 18 or older. We regret that we cannot make exceptions. In order to make this a pleasant learning experience for all students, no young children or babies are allowed to accompany you in a class. What happens if a class is cancelled? We reserve the right to cancel a class if there is threatening weather, an emergency with the instructor, not enough people signed up, or any other reason we deem necessary to cancel. We will make that determination no later than 2 hours prior to a class. If for any reason a class needs to be cancelled, we will make every attempt to notify you by phone at the number you provide us upon registration. If we are not able to speak with you in person, we will leave a message. Unless you hear from us at the phone number provided to us at registration, the class will be held. Will I be able to shop after the class? The retail part of the store will be open before and after class. Most nights, there will also be a short break in the middle of the class, during which you may shop the store. What is your cancellation policy? Class seats are non-refundable but may be given to a friend in the event you are unable to attend the class, much like a concert ticket. Payment is due at the time of registration. Telephone registrations will be accepted only with payment by credit card at the time of registration. All other registrations must be done online or in person.
